Learning Outcomes
Graduates of the PG Department of English, encompassing the BA Functional English and MA English Language and Literature programmes, will be able to:
- Demonstrate Proficiency in English Language and Literature:
Analyse, interpret and evaluate literary texts across genres, periods and cultures, with a critical understanding of literary theories and historical contexts.
- Enhance Communicative Competence:
Apply advanced language skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing for academic, professional and real-world communication, with particular emphasis on fluency, accuracy and appropriateness.
- Develop Functional Language Skills:
Exhibit practical skills in translation, editing, technical writing, media communication and content creation, particularly suited for careers in journalism, public relations, publishing and digital media (BA Functional English).
- Cultivate Critical Thinking and Analytical Abilities:
Engage in independent thought, critical inquiry and interpretive argumentation through literary criticism, discourse analysis and academic research.
