Learning Outcomes
The Department of Additional Languages aims to enhance the linguistic and cultural competence of students by offering Malayalam, Hindi and Arabic as part of the undergraduate curriculum. Upon successful completion of the language courses, students will be able to:
- Communicate Effectively: Demonstrate proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening in the chosen language for academic, professional and everyday contexts.
- Understand Cultural Contexts: Appreciate and interpret the cultural, literary and historical contexts embedded in regional and classical texts, fostering intercultural sensitivity and respect.
- Analyse Literary Works: Critically engage with literary texts, genres and traditions of the selected language, developing analytical and interpretive skills.
- Apply Language in Real-Life Scenarios: Use the language in practical situations such as translation, interpretation, media and communication, expanding career possibilities.
- Preserve Linguistic Heritage: Develop a deep awareness of the linguistic heritage and contemporary relevance of Malayalam, Hindi and Arabic in regional, national and global contexts.
- Pursue Further Studies: Build a strong foundation for higher education and research in language, literature, translation studies and comparative linguistics.
