The BSW Honours programme aims to develop competent social workers by blending theory (social work principles, justice, human rights) with practical skills, preparing graduates for roles in welfare, development and community empowerment, focusing on ethical practice, research and interdisciplinary approaches for positive social change, as outlined in their syllabi.

Program Goals & Objectives

  • Professional Competence: Equip students with knowledge, values and skills for basic and advanced social work practice.
  • Social Justice & Empowerment: Promote human rights, social justice, diversity and empowerment through practice and advocacy.
  • Holistic Development: Develop understanding of social issues, policies and community dynamics through classroom learning and extensive field work.
  • Interdisciplinary Approach: Integrate insights from sociology, psychology and other fields for effective intervention.
  • Research & Ethics: Foster research skills and ethical practice, emphasizing integrity and responsibility.
  • Change Agents: Train students to be effective change agents in diverse settings, working with individuals, groups and communities.
