DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS
SYLLABUS : Strictly based on Calicut University syllabus
The Department of Economics was started at SVPK Arts and Science College, Palemad in 2012. It is one of the active and energetic departments of our college. Currently, there are three qualified and very dedicated teachers in this department. The teachers have more than three years of teaching experience. The department has 90 students, and about 260 students have graduated. The departmental library has a total of 159 books, journals and other reports. The department thrives in reaching standards of excellence in teaching, learning and research. The department is in the forefront in organising seminars on topics of contemporary relevance within the constraints of the department.
VISION
The department envisions achieving high standards of academic performance to provide quality education to students, equip students with knowledge and skills in their chosen stream and to provide opportunities for students to realize their potential and thus shape them into future leaders to address the emerging global challenges and to deal with the economic, social and business realities. The Department of Economics consists of two interconnected components: imparting the highest quality instruction to our graduate students and training students in the methods and ideas of modern theoretical and applied economics. The department stimulates the academic environment by promoting and supporting in teaching, learning and research. The department excels in higher education, skill development, inculcating value systems and nurturing responsible citizenship.
