SYLLABUS : Strictly based on Calicut University syllabus
Being the first department to provide collegiate education at Sree Vivekananda Padana Kendram Arts and Science College, we boast of being one of the oldest and prestigious departments of our college, established in 2003. Our Bachelor's Degree, B.A. Functional aims at providing functional level education to its students, adding to other specialties in the same. Catering to students also willing to pursue their Masters in Language and Literature apart from Bachelors, our department has well qualified and skilled faculty capable of moulding students to what they dream of becoming. We are in the constant pursuit of achieving the best academic standards and in the meantime building each student’s English language skills through various additional classroom and audiovisual methodologies. We constantly strive to maintain each student’s quotient in learning English language and perfecting it over time.
VISION
The department aims at providing quality teaching in English Language and Literature, adopting the best proven methodologies in line with the vision of our University, enabling our students to take up research in the field of English Literature, Culture Studies, Comparative Literature, Linguistics, Translation Studies and other relevant areas and further nurturing each student’s learning potential through seminars, workshops, symposia, and participation in programmes organised by the department.
