SRI. K. R. BHASKARAN PILLAI - Founder & President

Sri. K. R. Bhaskaran Pillai is the founder of Sri Vivekananda Educational Complex, Palemad, Malappuram District, one of the largest educational institutions of Kerala. The complex consists of a Higher Secondary School, Arts & Science College, College of Teacher Education, Teachers Training Institute, English School and Institute of Health Inspector’s Diploma Course.

Born on 16th June 1938 at Pullat Village of Thiruvalla to Sri. A. K. Raman Nair and Smt. Lakshmi Amma, Sri. K. R. Bhaskaran Pillai is a renowned social reformer, voluble religious speaker, vibrant organizer, and an activist who infused strength and life to the Nair Service Society. He was the President of N.S.S, Malappuram District and member of N.S.S. Representative Body. He was the President of the National Democratic Party (N.D.P.) consequent on the demise of Kidangoor Gopalakrishna Pillai.

He started his career as a teacher and soon engaged in socio-cultural and community service programmes. During the Liberation Movement, he was a source of strength to the activities of Mannath Padmanabhan. He also contributed to the establishment and promotion of the Kerala Congress Party at its initial stages along with Mannam. He was an ardent worker in popularizing literacy mission in Kerala. He also served as the Secretary of KANFED of Malappuram District.

Another sister institution of Sri Vivekananda Educational Complex is Sri Vivekananda Vijnana Kendra established by Sri .Bhaskaran Pillai with the aim to promote spiritual and moral values in the society. The Kendra organizes spiritual living discourses annually, which attracts many intellectuals and religious scholars.

Sri. Pillai is the winner of Barister G. P. Pillai Foundation Award of 2003 for his contribution in the educational and cultural fields over a period of more than 25 years. He was also awarded The Karma Seshi Award for the year 2005 instituted by K. R. Elankath Smaraka Trust in a function held on February 8, 2006. Sri. Therambil Ramakrishnan, Honourable Speaker of Kerala Legislative Assembly, presented the award.
